Ben Yarmolinsky is known for his compositions based on American political themes. Among his major works are The Bill of Rights: A Secular Oratorio (1988), Amendments: A Constitutional Cantata (1992), as well as Anita (1995), a “docu-opera” based on the Anita Hill–Clarence Thomas hearings in the Senate. He is a founding member of the Friends and Enemies of New Music
