Sterling Jubilee Singers: Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb
Liner Notes   Cat. No. 80513     Release Date: 1997-01-01

The Sterling Jubilee Singers were founded in 1929 when large numbers of African-American men who worked in the steel mills and ore mines of Jefferson County, Alabama were forming a cappella gospel quartets, some of whom went on to find success touring and recording.

Of the area groups performing today, the Sterling Jubilee Singers best represent the unique Jefferson County style that once flourished there. Three of the current members have been with the group for over 30 years. The heart-felt singing, layers of powerful harmonies, and emotional exclamations situate them firmly in the tradition of the great a cappella groups that are the backbone of gospel music.
